Hello Dhaaarlings...
Finally I'm back on air... It's been a long wait I know and I'm very grateful for your patience... but it has not been without it's traumas darlings let me tell you!
Firstly... the old dinosaur of a computer I had gave up the ghost... not voluntarily but because the parent company in their wisdom decided to cease support to the platform i'd been happily plodding along with for years... Which effectively meant that it no longer recognized the internet connection that had been working perfectly well up to that point.
I then has to wait to replace the computer with a new one, albeit second hand reco notebook... which took some time to procure.
My telco then issued me with a new modum which i'd just managed to set up the week before Easter and while I was still trying to come to terms with driving the new notebook then sent another, different modum for the new faster broadband system and in the process decided to switch off the old internet system and sign us up to a new faster system.
Sadly they decided to do this over the Easter break which meant that all internet connectivity was down including our land line telephones that needed to be switched to the new system remotely. I had to ring the company to arrange this and get talked through the process.
finally all things seem to be up and running again and so I can finally start posting... hopefully a little more frequently than I have been...
Now all I have to do is to work out how to save pictures to the new contraption and then I'll be set!
Till next time darlings...
Bottoms up!
Oh gawd! If I have to phone Telstra to be talked through broad band I think I'll expire. And there are no 5 year olds on our street!!!!I'd better ring an up-the -road friend and see if I can borrow one of her sproglets.
ReplyDeleteBut it's nice that you are up and running.
With all the bad PR they have had over the years I have found their help line very responsive and very patient when it came to talking this luddite through the re connection process, when asked to call someone on the landline I couldn't recall a phone number to ring and have them ring back to make sure the connection worked in the end the guy rang me direct and I answered the landline while still talking to him on the mobile... go figure?
DeleteWelcome back, Princess! It's good to have you back. Congrats on the successful transition in technology. The changes can be stressful, but you made the transition fantastically. I'm confident that given a few days of familiarizing and exploring (and internet searching for tips), you'll master the new equipment and programs.
ReplyDeleteI still have some old tech that is no longer supported or even recognized by today's machines. But I keep them anyway for sentimental reasons and because they still work, just outdated. And it doesn't feel right to dump something that still works.
thankyou Mr Swings, it is taking some time to adjust to not using a mouse and getting the hang of how quickly things just disappear when you hit the wrong key.
DeleteWelcome back, and I feel your pain, what with old computers, new computers, and all that hoo-haw that goes into getting hooked up just so you can chat!
ReplyDeletethnx Bob, I thought technology was meant to make our lives easier!!!!
DeleteHere we are some 36+ years after home computing took off and there are still technical horror stories about how difficult it all is. I am a retired computer geek and I find it appalling.
ReplyDeleteBut on the bright side, of course, is that Princess is back!
well... yes Mr Lax until the next in announced unwanted techy upgrade or inbuilt redundancy program starts to rear it's ugly head and we start all over again...
ReplyDeleteJust THINKING about computer problems makes me want a lie-down.
ReplyDeleteflat on ones back is a good position Mistress... particularly when recovering from computer trauma... all that bending over keyboards trying to find the right letters can be beast on ones neck and lower back muscles...
DeleteNot only me , but my houseboys were wondering where on Earth was Princess!
ReplyDeleteapart from all the techy problems I've been busier than a one legged man in an arse kicking contest...
DeleteSo happy to have you reconnected, dear Princess! The blogworld is more glamorous for your return.
ReplyDeleteI can only hope for a process that "simple" when I have to replace Computron (which is imminent due to a similar cessation of support).
Welcome back.
ReplyDeleteI loathe technology as well. I just want to plug it in and for it to work. It seems to rarely happen.
Good job on procuring new technology though.
Lots of love to you and The Empress.
Hey Princess - good to see you back ! I usually leave all this tech stuff to someone else, or simply stuff the plugs in where they fit, switch on & hope the best.
ReplyDeleteYou are up and running, that's all that counts !
Happy Mothers Day to the Empress and the rest of the family. Cheers! :)
ReplyDeleteLuckily, my maid of all work sees to all that, I don't have the patience.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday, Prinny!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday, Princess! I'm sorry this is a bit late - your day is certainly over by now, isn't it? I hope you had a smashing day!?
ReplyDeleteI must also apologise for the lack of a celebratory post over at mine - things have been rather chaotic lately.
Happy birthday, dearest!
ReplyDeleteMWAH!
Jon
