"Hi Honey I'm Home"...or... "Princess... Princess.... Where have you been?"

I'd love to say... "Visiting our dear friend "Betty Dressnice" at Buckinghuge Palace" but... No...

Hello Dhaaarlings!

I'm Back from Bushwhacking!

"What's that Princess?" I hear you say... "Have you been away?"...
We thought you'd just given up on us and stopped blogging... or found yourself a lovely hunky artisan to run off with after all that painting and plastering...

Neither could be further from the truth darlings...
The Empress and I have been on a Royal Tour (of sorts) for the past month or so...
Travelling to more northern climes seeking warmth and sunshine as an attempt to escape a very cold local winter...
Fortunately we did manage to find a little sun in our pursuit... however it was more like luke-warmness rather than real heat.
No matter where we stopped along the way... the locals that we met were very keen to tell us...
"This cool weather is most unseasonable... At this time of year it's usually much warmer than this"
"Really?"...I'd reply ...
As the Empress and I would re-button our travelling coats and hunt down a cozy cafe for a hearty meal or a hot drink...

Despite the cool weather it was an improvement on the frosty mornings and cold bleak weather we had been having at home.

We stayed in a place with views like this to wake up to every morning...
It happens to be the first peak on the Australian east coast to be kissed by the suns (usually warmer) rays
every morning

We spent 2 weeks of relaxing and rejuvenating time with an Aunt, catching up with family and taking in the local touristy attractions.

A favourite of mine... was the drive to Mount Warning then foraging through the rain forest

Damp and dank and thoroughly relaxing...

The area is surrounded by sugar cane and banana plantations and we just happened to be in town in time for the Annual Banana Festival... and were able to witness a parade celebrating 59 years of festivals

I doubt that we'll be returning for the big 6 0

Yet... there were Real Princesses... Accompanied by some rather suggestive companions...
And old princesses from past eras as they were regally driven down the main drag in some very jaunty jaloppies..

This one reminded me of Grandma Duck...
The car darlings not the princess... Although....

And we just can't forget the local Samba Band...

...with watching all that banging and gyrating and drumming...
I still have an absolute throbber... of a headache darlings..

There were a myriad of local groups, service clubs, schools and collectives represented in the parade but I will spare you of any more photos as it went on for hours and hours...
I guess it probably would have been more interesting had we been local...
Yet I found it to be quite emotional and was surprised that at times I found myself tearing up as it brought back memories of my own participation in similar parades in my youth...

Only back then we were celebrating the humble Spud...

Stay tuned for more posts of The Empress and Prinny's  Adventures
There are so many more things to see and talk about...  bringing them to you in their full and fabulous glory should keep me busy for weeks to come...

I'm hoping that you will come back for the next instalment Darlings...

Until then... Bottoms Up!

  1. ♫ Come, Mister tally man, tally me banana daylight come and me wan' go home...

Welcome back Princess, you've been missed! Bushwhacking is that a euphemism for self abuse, you know... down there? Real princesses indeed and a token one too, wearing a green dress, how lovely. If only they would reintroduce the 10 pound pom scheme, I'll be over there in a jiffy.

    1. The 10 pound Pom scheme... Ahhh... Those were the days
If you turned up today darling the Government would probably make you a Dame...
As to "bushwhacking" ... you've sprung me...

  2. Thank you for the pix. I always enjoy seeing the Oz countryside and the old cars were a special treat.

PS: Did you get any ideas for banana costumes?

    1. Mr Lax, there are plenty more pix to come of our enchanting countryside, and I do have a few more pix of old cars to come in future posts so just sit back and relax a while...

  3. What great pics and what a fun trip, though I was slightly more intrigued by the idea of "bushwhacking" because it sounds so naughty, and of that giant banana because, well, giant, banana.

    1. Hi Bob, bushwhacking is a common past time here in OZ mainly in reference to going off road in a vehicle or trekking through the bush on foot. (Masturbation is an optional extra)
Giant bananas and a stick of sugar-cane for the more adventurous...

  4. The irony of an "Indian" driving by an Indian restaurant was not lost on me.

  6. I was beginning to think maybe you'd never return, till I saw you at the casa! What a glorious trip! Shame you didn't get to ride the big banana. Your picture definitely show some amazing nature. At least your entering spring now. Were entering autumn....and for once, I'm ready.

You must be exhausted from all that whacking. I never thought that bush was your thing though?

    1. Hello Roses... In fact i'm quite partial to flourishing bush,
leave the shaved/waxed look for Peter Pan types... I like a man with hair... As to the Bushwhacking, as the Empress is not up to long treks through the jungle and prefers a nice flat path to stroll along without too many ups and downs it only happened on occasion when the pathways were clear and flattish.

  9. Princess! Lovely to have you (both) back - and just in time for the Tin Foil Hat Compo, too.

Love the rainforest photos! If only such plants and tress would do so well here - that's what I'd like my garden to look like! The Banana parade looks like a bit of local fun. As soon as I saw the young princesses in their dresses, I thought: Oh, no! Poor Princess has been roped into making some gorgeous gowns at the last minute!. I presume you didn't though, as you didn't mention it?

    Can't wait to see more!

    1. MrDeVice... How lovely to see you... Your presumption was correct not a frock was created for the whole time we were away. Though I have come back to requests for costumes to be made left right and centre...
There are more photos... stay tuned...
