What is it?

Dhaaarlings...

That's right... just keep scrolling on down...

That's it.....

Not far to go now...

There you go!...

It's an old glass fishing float Darling...

I found it in an old antique shop many moons ago...
Outback and in the middle of nowhere... hundreds of miles from the sea...
I'd wanted one for years and finally found one in the most unexpected of places and it now has pride of place in my Fernery...

I guess that Patience is a virtue...

And patience is a virtue, but I just don't have the time.

  2. Very nice.

I have one like this that someone gave me. No idea about the origin.

  3. I've always been fascinated by them as well...
Perhaps one day I will have one.

GOSH! I didn't know Gershwin had recorded his Rhapsody! That's amazing. It's another world compared to the way pianists play it today!

And is there some kind of inscription engraved on the ball giving an idea where it comes from?

    Hugs
    Jon

  7. Hello Bob
    Nice to see you...
"And patience is a virtue, but I just don't have the time.

And did you know that the outcome of learning Patience is... Patience!

    Dear Mr Von LaX

I've seen some like that too but always thought they were just fancy rolling pins

    Dear Wally

Good things come to those who wait!

    Dear Jon
The recording of Gershwin is quite a treasure!

Alas... I am yet to find any evidence of the Floats origins, although I am sure it could tell a tail or two...

    Hello Roses
You gave me a giggle calling them "Witches Balls" i've not heard them called that before... Must have been from a very butch witch!:-)

  10. I've had a few of them but never have kept one for more than a week as they go for big bucks around these parts and rarely are available. We decorators prize them because the wives are always looking for something to make the husband happy.
