Good Morning 2017...

Good Morning Dhaaarlings...

It's just after 4 am here in OZ so i decided that i'd put down a few thoughts.

"Why is Princess writing at 4am on newyears day?"... You may well ask. and i'd be quite happy to tell you.

The Empress and i for some years now have not been all that fussed about celebrating in the new year. Our eve consists mainly of sharing a meal together talking to family and the odd friend on the phone, watching a bit of TV. Congratulating eachother for surviving another year and then retiring to bed at around 9.30 pm.

So around 4am I was rudely awoken by my bladder.... or as my father used to say "I was forced out of bed by water"
As i'm now slightly awake I thought id just say hello and wish all of you a better 2017.
2016 seems to have been a pretty shitty year all around for many including myself... but there are a lot of things to be greatful for.

Family being top of the list... Not just our biological family but those that we invite into our lives as friends that become like family... including blog friends that have shared many years of joy, dissappointments, sadness, the ups and downs of life and all of the permutations in between. The celebration in welcoming new family members and sharing in the sadness and grief of losing others. Just doing life together.

My intention in life is to try and be a good person... To help someone when they are in need... to try not to judge other people even if feel frustrated or angered by their words or actions... (sometimes i don't do this so well and have to stop myself.)
This past year has been a difficult one for me as I've been plagued by ongoing illness... but i have learned something from it all...

I need to be kind and good person to myself

I've always been one to volunteer and first to say yes to helping out in any way I can... but how can I be of help to others if i'm burnt out and exhausted and left without any time for me?

So this year I'm making a resolution.
It's the first time I've ever made one...

My resolution for 2017 is to learn to say NO! But in the nicest possible way...

I won't wish you all the usual New Year guff  as none of us know what the coming year holds in store.
But what I will say is just be kind to yourself, be kind to others, and lets just start this new year together in the hope that in some tiny way it's a little better than the one just gone...

I'm going back to bed now darlings... See you in the morning...

    1. Thanks mate... I have been told that i do my best work at night...Wink wink. But with writing I think it is due to darkness and silence outside and the lack of distractions even when I was studying for nursing I would get up and work through the wee hours of the morning i found that I could really concentrate on what it was that i wanted to say... I guess old habits die hard...

  4. Whispers quietly so as to not wake up a sleeping Princess...

Happy New Year to you, the Empress, Spot, and the entire Royal Court, Princess.

I am so glad to hear that you are going to take better care of yourself, so that you can enjoy life and be the best you that you can be! It's important to be good to yourself, so that you can find the strength to do what makes you happy and then take better care of those who need you and rely on your caring heart. Do be kind to yourself, and treat yourself well, because you deserve it, and because you are so wonderful!

Cheers to a magnificent New Year full of good experiences, amazing people, and lots of joy! May your friends and loved ones fill your home with laughter. And may nature give you light when things get too dark, give you warmth when you are cold; shade you with a tree and cool you with a breeze when the sun is too hot; give you rain to wash away the grime; and bloom every flower to please your senses, and fill your world with beauty and color, just as you fill ours with charm and delight. Cheers!

    1. Mr Swings, you epitomise my newyears message so eloquently with your comments. I really appreciate your honesty and friendship. I love reading your "down on the farm" posts as they bring back so many childhood memories for me, I would get up at 2 in the morning to go to market with my Father and my Uncle as the family business was fruit and vegetable wholesale run. We supplied fresh produce to lots of small shops in little country towns 3 times a week.

    2. Wow! Supplying town markets three times a week! Y'all were a busy and active operation. That's amazing! I look back now and marvel how it was routine and normal to get up early in the wee hours before dawn to work the farm or do the market and delivery runs. It was a lot of work, but looking back, it was also pretty neat supplying produce and products to stores and people. Farming is hard work, but it really does make us tougher and more resilient. It makes us survivors!

You are blessed because you're naturally a green thumb, and your farming experience has made you an extraordinary gardner--and so many people benefit from your talents and kindness. I was never good at growing plants and crops, but I was (& still am) pretty good with the livestock and critters. And I'm excellent at removing weeds! Still, I'm going to make an effort to try and improve my gardening skills, because even though I'm not good at growing them, I like plants, and I like eating fruits and veggies and sharing them with people.

  5. Some of us , glancing over our shoulders at a fading 2016, think that perhaps the most appropriate blessing to begin this shiny new year is "Good Luck!"
So, along with good health, that is what I wish you.

  7. Practice by saying "No!" to Crocs.

From there, saying no is a piece of CAKE.

Remember, we're all in this together and somehow, we'll muddle through.

Here's to the New Year, to you and The Empress, and to all who visit the Palais.

    1. I said "No!" to the dreaded foot attire starting with "C" years ago and continue to encourage others to do the same...
I guess we can all look forward to muddling through another year... Sadly I find that none of them have ever come with set of instructions... nor can they be returned to the store for a refund if found to be faulty...

I would raise a glass to wish you all the best for 2017, but with my stomach as it is, tea is the most I can manage.
