Hello Dhaaarlings....
Sorry about the spots I seem to have left on all the furniture....
But white is so difficult to wear....
Is it May already?... The year seems to be flying past... Where does time go?
I have somewhat of an inkling darlings...
I'm feeling like I'm just chained to the Phaff at the moment with not an awful lot to show for all my effort...
And when I'm not chained to the Phaff... I'm making pattern blocks to draft patterns for other costumes. Sadly my nest of pattern blocks start at a ladies size 10.
The costumes that I'm making start at size 6 and 8 so I've had to grade the blocks down to the smaller sizes... Time consuming I know but now I have two new pattern blocks to add to the nest...
If i'm not doing either of the above I'm sourcing fabric and trims for other costumes and sketching out design ideas for them...
Then there is the usual household stuff, gardening, lawns to maintain, meals to prepare washing, ironing, dusting etc and on top of that an Empress to get to her what at times... seems like a multitude of appointments
with various medical clinicians...
Anyway...you get the picture....
The Poppy dresses are coming along swimmingly but just not as quickly as I'd hoped...
I guess that deciding to put 4 individual pieces of boning of different lengths into the sleeves to give them some support and shape doesn't help....
. And although it seemed like a good idea at the time... it turns out to be quite fiddly work and the most time consuming of all the steps in the garments construction...
But despite the time consumption with 48 individual sleeves to make I think that it is worth all the fannying about.... as once they are completed they just finish the blouse beautifully....
Seeee....
I can't wait to get them all finished and teamed with the red tulle and satin skirts now...
The cutting of huge amounts of tulle to be gathered for the skirts along with the petal shaped flower overlays in red satin is timetabled to start next week...
By then I should have the remaining blouses all completed... I only have six more of twenty four to go!
So if I'm not posting as often as I usually do darlings it's is because I'm just a little preoccupied....
I think for now though I've earned myself a little drinkies...
And here is a little something to show for your effort in reading all the way to the bottom of this post....
Well we are celebrating the Year of the Arse are we not?....
Bottoms Up... Darlings!
Ja, looks like a lot of complex cutting and stitching. Looks great, of course!
ReplyDeleteThanks Mr Lax... A lot more complex that I initially thought and i slightly altered the pattern from the original prototype. but the result is much better I think.....
DeleteHello Princess:
ReplyDeleteAll work and no play makes, as you should know, Jack or Jackie a dull boy or girl. We hope that you are not totally consumed by fabric, and all those domestic details which you mention, before we get down to the essence of the post at the bottom - the drinkies!
Why not get the Empress to get in some staff? Failing that, to don some Marigolds herself.
Dear Princess,
ReplyDeleteI know these feelings quite well.
May already...
How did this happen?
I do however take comfort in the quality of my projects, and I am sure you do as well...
Bottoms up love!
Arse'n'Heels!
ReplyDeleteLoves it.
My darling...you are just amazing. That would rather go the extra mile to make the costumes more fabulous for the kids, is just so lovely. Says so much about you as a truly wonderful human being.
ReplyDeleteAnd you've got great taste in arse.
Bottoms up darling.
Sweetie, I think you deserve the drinks, the heels and the boy. Maybe not in that order.
ReplyDeleteWell, you know what they say don't you??? Hooray! Hooray! It's the first of May, outdoor screwing begins today!!!!
ReplyDeleteAll that green fabric...
ReplyDeleteAre those The Freakin' Green Elf Shorts?
All that sewing, working your fingers to the bone. I hope you've had time for a little skip around the Maypole!
ReplyDeleteWOW! WOW! WOW! on soooooo many levels, sugar! cheers! xoxoxoxoxoo
