A Gracious Meme.....

This meme is very graciously accepted...
Following a thoughtful suggestion that I made during a recent visit...
Never conscidering for a moment...
The potential for, and subsequential tagging that one recieved!

So Here Goes...

Where is your Cell Phone?
But I dont have a cell phone... truly abhorent things that they are.

Your Vehicle?

Parked on the lawns prehaps?

I prefer travelling with "Dorothy" my Faithful Ass...
 Your hair ?

A bit of a mess right now
Long, curled, and down past my shoulders. Usually tied back in a pony tail (but not today)
Light brown with just a whisp of salt and pepper at the sides.

 Father?
No, never an aspiration of mine personally...

I did have a father but he died over 20yrs ago,
I still miss him...
What is your favourite colour?
That is a very difficult question for me to answer.

As I work with colour all the time...

Let me just say that I love all of them singularly or in mixed and matching combinations...
and for me to nominate just the one as a favourite...

 is just downright cruel!

I love the colour wheel

Oh.... and the colours of nature

What is your favourite thing?

Pottering around in "The Palais" Gardens particularly the fernery.

Gardening
for me I find, brings about a meditative state, deep focus on the task at hand and time for contemplation...
time just flys and there are tangible rewards from your effort...

What did you dream last night?

I don't always recall my dreams But often they reflect what is occuring in my daily life... often they relate to creative projects that I am working on, Quilt designs, patterns or colour combinations to use...

Sometimes they can be very helpful when I'm stuck on a project...

What room are you in right now?

I live in one big open plan room/studio with a kitchen and bathroom/laundry. The space allows me to recreate individual rooms or, living areas within it. I can rearrange areas as the mood takes me
Currently I am in the "computer capslule" or otherwise, the corner of the room where I have my computer and desk set up and partitioned off by tall
book shelves...

Your Ex?

Is a Bitch Called Mental Health(what an Oxymoron), as I had been married to my career in nursing for 20 yrs, then when that came to a sudden halt through workplace injury, a long period of depression, anxiety, loss of self confidence loss of direction and very low selfesteem followed...
Not exacly attractive qualities when seeking friendship/partners...
But that is all thankfully in the past
And and so...

If there is anyone out there interested in becomming a potential Ex...
Just let me know....
I'm ready to give it a try.

You are?

Pretty content with my lot in life these days and happy to go with the flow.
There is always food on the table, alcohol in the fridge, friends calling in and family to catch up with.
The sun still rises, rainbows appear when it showers, and all is well in my world...

What do you want to be doing in 10 yrs time?

Still living an enjoyable life, Still creating and earning some money from it..
To have discovered someone special to companion on lifes journey, to still be able to appreciate the simple things in life...

And remain Happy...

Who did you hang out with today?

Nobody, I like my own company these days and am accepting of it...

What you're not?
Booring and over opinionated (I hope)...
Someone who doesn't think and feel deeply...
Someone who willingly takes on other peoples stuff to my own detriment
(a trait which has taken me a while to develop)
Scared to try new things, go to new places and meet new people

Sure where I left my garden rake....

Muffins?

There is a batch of banana and date ones baking in the oven as we speak
Would you like to try one when they're are done?

One of your wish list items?

I wish I had Dorothy's ruby slippers

Where is the Bloody Mary?

The last thing you did?

Made a coffee and lit a cigarette...

Your Pets ?

The Empresses Royal Hound "Princess Abby"

Some of these...

And some of these

Your Computer?
Is relatively novel as I went without one for several years
It keeps me in touch with friends, family and the world...
And consumes far too mutch of my time...
Tho I do have the choice of turning it off occasionally....

Your life is?

Happily contented and uncomplicated at present

Your mood is?

Generally happy and on an even keel these days, with managable stress and more up than down days...

I'm missing?

Sir Fred

What am I thinking about right now?

Going over to visit a neighbour for her Birthday... I have bought her a new plant for her Garden which I know she has been keen to procure...

Your shoes are?
In a box by the door...
And about to go on my feet...
Old comfortable, sensible, and nearly worn out from Gardening...
I'm wearing slippers, but alas without the rubies....

Your Work is?

A pleasure, as a full time carer for my Mother "The Empress"...

And fabulously creative and rewarding with my Quilting, Gardening and Artwork, as I work from home and can fit it in around other regular activities of daily life...

Summer?
Certainly was not as hot or as deadly this year as last
and fortunately without "raging bush fires" throughout the state

And for a change had a series of rainy periods. Something we have not had for many years...

What I'm wearing?

Slippers, socks, tracky dacks and a T shirt
Not agood look but like the shoes sensible and comfortable for a Sunday...

Favourite Drink?

What? You really have to ask?

Why... Champagne Dhaaarlings!
*note to self buy new shoes*

  3. Great answers, Princess!

I didn't get a cellphone either til work required me to travel a lot. I just needed a way to contact people quickly and for people to contact me in case there are changes I need to be aware of.

Hear! Hear! The natural world colors are amazing and beautiful! And we're always trying to replicate them in our homes and in our lives.

Your garden is lovely! There's a lot of variety and color. You certainly have a green thumb! I like gardens, but I'm the grim reaper of plants. I've killed all sorts. My mother, on the other hand, was a green thumb and grew all sorts of plants. And you've got a zoo to go with your little garden of Eden!

I like your outlook on life! You certainly know how to live life to the fullest and enjoy it. And the muffins sound delicious!

  4. Dear Xl,

Yes, there is a very large undercover area between Mum's House and my studio.

There are outdoor settings comfortable couches and chairs, more potted plants and a large patio heater, to warm the place during the colder months.

I also have 2 large tables set up that I use to lay out my quilts and use for cutting cloth.

When they are not covered in junk!

I will post a pick when the area is looking tidy...

  5. Dear Mr Device,

Thank you very much. I love the Fernery and am always propogating plants to give away to friends.

There were a lot of people here in Bendigo that not only lost their houses but also their gardens on "Black Saturday".

(I was nearly one of them but thanks to a change in wind direction we were saved. It did come pretty close though, Into the next street in fact)!

I have since made contact with a group of avid gardeners and am busy potting up cuttings from the my garden getting ready to donate a heap of them to the group.

I visit the local recycling centre regularly for pots and am in the process of preparing another 4 old baths to grow vegetables in.

Bendigo is an old Goldmining town and the soil is pretty dodgy for growing veges in as there are a lot of trace amounts of mercury and arsenic left behind from the gold mining... Stuff that you really don't want to ingest with your home grown produce!

The woman that runs the group lost her own home and garden in the fires on Black Saturday.

The resilience of people following tradgic disasters still amazes me!

    Regarding the meme...
I did go and open my big mouth didn't I?

So how could I then not participate and leave everyone else tagged to do it?
I would feel too guilty not to...

It was fun tho and really got me thinking

  6. Dear Eros,

Thankyou for your kind words and observations...

I inherited my love of gardening from my grandparents and father...

The Grandfathers and Dad always had a vegetable garden out of necessity, and an orchard of fruit trees, berries were gleaned from the roadside as were mushrooms.

The grandmothers were both green thumbs, and always had and assortment of colourful and scented blooms for picking and bringing indoors, as well as herbs at the ready for cullinary delights.
They were always busy harvesting and bottling fruits and veges in season, making preserves, jams and jellies.
We grew up with a House Cow called would you belive "Queenie". Look up the word contankerous and you will find that "Queenie" was the expamle cited. I have vivid memories of attempting to milk her and her never failing to kick over the bucket, much to my Nanna's horror.
We would then put the milk through the manual sepparator, and then i would stand for what seemed like hours, turning the handle on the ancient butter churn until miraculously we would have fresh butter and black berry jam (picked weeks before by my cousins and I) to spread on fresh hot scones for morning tea.

I could never fathom how Nanna knew that us kids had all eaten most of the blackberries picked before they made their way to the cooking pot.

We would arrive home with our half full buckets and she would line us all up and enquire "Now you boys haven't been eating any of those berries have you"?
We would all lower our heads in guilt have our fingers crossed behind our backs and reply in unison
"No Nan we did'nt eat any"
Dispite the fact that we were all sporting purple lips and smeared from head to toe in blackberry juice!

We could never work out how she knew... it was like she could peer into our very soul.
